Ingredients

  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. (scant) soda
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 c. flour (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon grease

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Use teaspoon more baking powder with sweet milk and pinch of soda. Especially good cooked in an iron skillet on the top of the stove.
