Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 cups unsifted flour
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside.
  2. Cream the sugar and shortening together.
  3. Add boiling water, salt, cold water, and eggs; mix well.
  4. Add softened yeast mixture.
  5. Gradually add flour, 2 cups at a time, and beat with a mixer.
  6. Do not knead the dough.
  7. Let the dough rise until doubled in bulk.
  8. Stir down the dough and refrigerate until needed.
  9. When ready to use, make into rolls using enough flour to work with.
  10. Let the formed rolls rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  11. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
