- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of margarine, and 1 cup of water in a baking dish.
- Mix together 3/4 cup sugar, sliced apples (about 3.5 to 4 cups), apple spice mix, and cinnamon or nutmeg.
- Roll out biscuit dough separately into individual pieces.
- Place a spoonful of apple mixture in the center of each biscuit.
- Fold and pinch the tops of the biscuits together to seal.
- Place the filled biscuits in the baking dish over the melted butter and sugar mixture.
- Bake for about 70 minutes, spooning the juice and butter from the pan over the dumplings occasionally.
- Use June apples or other sweet apples for best flavor.
