Ingredients

  • 5 3/4 to 6 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup softened butter
  • 2 cups very warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix 2 cups of flour, dry milk solids, sugar, salt, and undissolved yeast.
  2. Add softened butter and very warm water to the mixture.
  3. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into equal portions.
  7. Shape each portion into a bun and place on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Let the buns rise again until almost doubled, about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and cool slightly before serving.
