Ingredients

  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 6 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Mix brown sugar and flour together in a double boiler or copper bottom pan.
  2. Add the beaten egg yolks and milk to the mixture.
  3. Cook until the mixture is very thick, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla and butter.
  5. Let the filling cool, then pour into baked pie shells.
  6. Cover with meringue and bake or toast until golden if desired.
