Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 lb. corned beef
  • 3 sliced onions
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 6 peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 garlic clove
  • 1 stalk celery
  • 2 sprigs parsley
  • 1 head cabbage, cut up
  • 8 to 12 red potatoes

Instructions

  1. Put meat in pot; pour cold water to cover.
  2. Add all other ingredients except potatoes.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer 3 1/2 to 5 hours.
  5. Approximately 45 minutes before meat is done, add potatoes.
