- Cream the butter until fluffy.
- Add the sifted confectioners sugar and cream well.
- Combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch, then sift together twice to ensure they are well mixed.
- Gradually add the flour and cornstarch mixture to the butter and sugar, mixing well after each addition.
- Knead the dough with your hands if necessary until it is smooth.
- On a floured surface, pat the dough into a square about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into strips, 2 inches wide and as long as desired.
- Transfer the strips to a baking sheet and bake in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to cool; they will harden as they cool.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from heat.
