- Scald milk and add sugar and shortening.
- Cool the mixture to lukewarm.
- Add about 2 cups of flour and beat thoroughly.
- Add eggs and yeast; beat thoroughly.
- Add the rest of the flour to make a soft dough.
- Knead on a floured board until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
- Cut out desired shapes and let rise until doubled again.
- Bake at 425°F until browned.
