  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. white syrup
  • 4 c. onions, chopped in food grinder coarse
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 2 green or yellow bell peppers
  • 5 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 c. vinegar

  1. Add sugar, cocoa, and milk to a saucepan and boil for 5 minutes.
  2. Continue to heat on low while filling hot jars with the syrup.
  3. Seal the jars to preserve the syrup.

Tips & Substitutions

For a smoother syrup, sift the cocoa before adding it to the mixture. If you prefer a richer flavor, consider using dark cocoa powder instead of regular cocoa. You can also adjust the sugar to taste, especially if you want a less sweet syrup. For a unique twist, try adding a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.

Serving Suggestions

This chocolate syrup is perfect for drizzling over ice cream, pancakes, or waffles. It also pairs beautifully with the 'I Remember' Floating Island for a nostalgic dessert. For a fun treat, try mixing it into milk for a homemade chocolate milk or use it as a topping for brownies or cheesecake.

Storage & Reheating

Store the sealed jars of chocolate syrup in a cool, dark place, such as a pantry or cupboard. Once opened, keep the syrup in the refrigerator and use it within a month. To reheat, simply warm the syrup in a saucepan over low heat or in the microwave, stirring until it reaches your desired consistency.
