Ingredients

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. oil
  • 1/2 c. cold water
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Instructions

  1. Mix the self-rising flour, buttermilk, egg, sugar, and oil in a bowl until moist. The mixture will be thick.
  2. In a separate small bowl, combine the baking soda with cold water.
  3. Add the soda-water mixture to the main batter and stir well. The batter will become thin.
  4. Let the batter set for 10 minutes, during which it will become light and fluffy.
  5. Cook in a preheated waffle iron until golden and crispy.
