Ingredients

  • 12 cup margarine, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup presifted all-purpose flour
  • 12 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 12 teaspoons baking powder
  • 12 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 large rome beauty apple (Came out very soft and juicy using MacIntosh Apple; Excellent)
  • 34 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree.
  2. Grease and flour 8"x8" baking dish.
  3. Cream together the margarine and sugar in a medium-size bowl.
  4. Beat in the egg.
  5. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and spices.
  6. Stir into the batter.
  7. Peel, core, and dice the apple.
  8. Add to the batter with the chopped walnuts and vanilla extract.
  9. Stir to combine.
  10. Pour into the baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  11. Cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  12. Slice into squares.
