Instructions
- Sprinkle the dates with the baking soda, pour over the water and cool.
- Cream the butter and sugar together.
- Add the egg, then the coated date mixture, alternating with the sifted flour.
- Add the walnuts.
- Bake in a log tin for 3/4 hour at about 425°F.
