Ingredients

  • 4 cups chopped apples
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup salad oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped apples and sugar and let stand.
  2. Beat eggs and add salad oil and vanilla.
  3. Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into the egg mixture.
  4. Alternately fold in the apple mixture into the dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Frost with Lemon Butter Frosting.
