Ingredients

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons margarine

Instructions

  1. Combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, salt, and undissolved yeast in a bowl.
  2. Heat milk, water, and margarine until liquids reach 120° to 130° Fahrenheit.
  3. Add the heated liquids to the dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  4. Add 1/4 cup flour and beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth.
  7. Place the dough in a greased bowl, grease the top, and cover.
  8. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
