Ingredients

  • 4 onions
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 4 slices bread
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Slice onions and sauté in butter until tender.
  2. Toast bread slices and butter if desired.
  3. Cut toast into 1-inch cubes.
  4. Layer bread cubes in a 1 1/2-quart casserole pan.
  5. Spread sautéed onions over the bread cubes.
  6. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the onions.
  7. Beat eggs in a bowl.
  8. Add pepper and milk to the eggs and mix well.
  9. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients in the casserole.
  10. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for 6 hours.
  11. Bake uncovered at 350°F for about 30 minutes until set and golden.
