Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa or Dutch-process cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3-1/2 c. quick-cooking oatmeal
  • 1 c. sweetened flaked coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a full boil.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Add quick-cooking oatmeal and coconut, mixing well.
  6. Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper or a greased surface.
  7. Let cool until firm before serving.
