- Place water, yeast, milk, sugar, shortening, eggs, salt, and 6 cups of flour in a mixer bowl.
- Beat at low speed for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl from time to time.
- Pour over 6 1/2 to 7 cups of flour and mix with a spoon.
- Knead the dough and let it rise until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into 4 loaves.
- Let the loaves rise again and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35 minutes.
