Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. medium width noodles
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 teaspoons almond extract
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Boil noodles in salted water until just barely tender.
  2. Strain the noodles and rinse with cold water; place in a bowl.
  3. Melt the butter and put half in a large casserole or baking dish, coating the sides and bottom.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the empty dish in the oven.
  5. Add cinnamon, raisins, sugar, salt, and almond extract to the noodles and mix well.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add the milk and beat again until well blended.
  7. Pour the egg mixture into the noodles along with the remaining melted butter and stir well.
  8. Pour the mixture into the heated casserole dish.
  9. Bake until the top is golden brown, about 1 hour or longer.
