Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 slices bread, cubed
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • dash of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • nutmeg (for sprinkling)
  • raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a double boiler, bring water to a boil; simmer for 1 hour or until a knife comes out clear.
  2. Layer brown sugar at the bottom of the double boiler.
  3. Add the cubed bread slices on top of the brown sugar.
  4. Mix eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture over the bread cubes.
  6. Sprinkle nutmeg on top of the pudding before serving.
