Ingredients

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 6 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale.
  2. Gradually fold in the flour, alternating with water and baking powder.
  3. Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
  5. Add chopped nuts to the mixture and fold in gently.
  6. Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan and bake at a moderate temperature until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
