Ingredients

  • 2 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. cherry or raspberry jam

Instructions

  1. Mix well with your fingers the oats, flour, sugar, salt, and shortening.
  2. Pat half of the mixture into a greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Spread the warm jam evenly over the dough.
  4. Sprinkle the remaining batter over the jam layer.
  5. Lightly pat down the topping with your fingers.
  6. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Cool in the pan on a rack.
  8. Cut into 24 bars.
