Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 medium baking apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • dash of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • dash of salt
  • 2/3 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the apples into a buttered electric skillet.
  2. Sprinkle the apples with 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, and cinnamon.
  3. Combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar with softened butter to make a creamed mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, add and combine the remaining ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, egg, and milk to form a pouring batter.
  5. Pour the batter over the apples in the skillet.
  6. Do not stir. Cover and bake at 225°F for 30 to 35 minutes.
