- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Line or spray an 8-cup capacity bread loaf pan and set aside.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- Melt unsweetened and semi-sweet chocolates in a double boiler until smooth; cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, cream the unsalted butter.
- Add vanilla and 1 cup of sugar; beat thoroughly.
- Add egg yolks and beat well.
- Add melted chocolate and beat until blended.
- Add sifted dry ingredients and beat until combined.
- Beat egg whites on moderately high speed until they hold a soft shape.
- Fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture gently.
- Turn the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Wrap the cake in plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature overnight before serving.
