Ingredients

  • 1 large can cream
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Lard size of an egg or large heaping tablespoon
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix eggs, sugar, and lard together in a bowl.
  2. Add milk to the mixture and blend well.
  3. Combine baking powder with flour separately.
  4. Mix all ingredients together and let stand overnight in the refrigerator.
  5. Roll out the dough and cut around a saucer to form circles.
  6. Wet the edges of each circle with water.
  7. Place fruit filling on one half of each circle and fold over.
  8. Seal the edges by pressing with a damp fork.
  9. Deep-fry the pies in Crisco until golden brown.
  10. Drain on paper towels and serve.
