Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine (Judges 5:25)
  • 1 c. sugar (Jeremiah 6:20)
  • 3 eggs, separated (Isaiah 10:14)
  • 1 Tbsp. honey (Exodus 16:31)
  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour (1 Kings 4:22)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt (Leviticus 2:13)
  • 2 tsp. baking powder (1 Corinthians 5:6)
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon (1 Kings 10:10)
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cloves (1 Kings 10:10)
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice (1 Kings 10:10)
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg (1 Kings 10:10)
  • 1/2 c. milk (Judges 4:14)
  • 1/2 c. chopped, blanched almonds (Genesis 43:11)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar, beating until light.
  2. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
  3. Beat in the honey. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with the milk and beat only until smooth. Stir in nuts and fruits. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into a 9 x 5 x 13-inch loaf pan lined on the bottom with waxed paper.
  4. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 1 hour or until done.
  5. Turn and peel off paper. Cool cake right side up.
