Old Time Spoon Rolls are soft, buttery yeast rolls with a tender crumb, perfect for breakfast or dinner sides. Easy to prepare and ideal for make-ahead baking.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 4 c. self-rising flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Cream together margarine, sugar, and egg.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and water to the creamed mixture.
  4. Gradually mix in the self-rising flour one cup at a time to form a spongy batter.
  5. Transfer the dough to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use, up to 5 days.
  6. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  7. Spoon heaping tablespoonfuls of dough into greased muffin tins.
  8. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
