Ingredients

  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients in a mixing bowl as listed.
  2. Mix with a wooden spoon until well combined.
  3. Roll out on a floured board thin.
  4. Cut with any size cutter.
  5. Place on a flat cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 400°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  7. Bake only until tops are light brown.
  8. Store in a flour sack or pillow case if you can keep the kids out.
