Ingredients

  • 1 pkg yellow cake mix
  • 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 family size vanilla pudding (not instant)

Instructions

  1. Mix the yellow cake mix as directed and pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Bake the cake in the preheated oven according to the package instructions.
  3. Bring crushed pineapple and sugar to a boil in a saucepan, stirring constantly.
  4. Let the pineapple mixture cool slightly.
  5. Poke holes in the top of the baked cake using a fork or skewer.
  6. Pour the pineapple mixture over the top of the cake and let it stand for 15 minutes to soak in.
  7. Prepare the vanilla pudding as directed on the package.
  8. Spread the prepared pudding evenly over the pineapple layer.
  9. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or a lid.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  11. Cut into squares to serve.
  12. Top each serving with a dab of Cool Whip.
