A hearty overnight brunch casserole combining bread, cheeses, and savory meats or mushrooms, baked to perfection for a satisfying and easy-to-prepare morning dish.

Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 slices bread, crusts removed
  • 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 lb. Monterey Jack or Swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 lb. bacon, sausage or fresh mushrooms, cooked
  • 3 cups milk
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Arrange bread slices in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Sprinkle grated cheeses over the bread.
  3. Cover with cooked bacon, sausage, mushrooms, or a combination of these.
  4. Mix eggs, milk, and salt in a bowl.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients in the pan.
  6. Refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until golden and set.
