Ingredients

  • 4 lb. country style pork ribs
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons oregano leaves
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Early in the day or the day before, heat the ribs to boiling in an uncovered saucepan with enough water to cover.
  2. Simmer on low for one hour or until fork-tender.
  3. Drain the ribs.
  4. Place ribs in barbecue sauce and refrigerate until ready to use.
  5. Cook the ribs on a grill, broiler, or in the oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Be careful not to overcook, as the meat has been precooked.
  7. It only needs to be well heated through to bring out the flavor of the marinated meat.
  8. You can use the sieved broth for soup if desired.
