Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, sugar, and Crisco in a large bowl.
  2. Set aside the dry mixture.
  3. Dissolve the dry yeast in lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon of sugar.
  4. Let the yeast mixture rise until foamy.
  5. Mix warm milk and eggs, then add the yeast mixture.
  6. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until combined.
  7. Refrigerate the dough overnight in a large greased sealed bowl.
  8. Remove the dough the next day and use for sweet rolls, dumplings, hard rolls, kuchen, or deep-fried bread.
  9. This dough can be kept refrigerated for up to 8 days.
