Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and salt.
  2. Blend in the remaining ingredients: flour, chocolate pieces, and nuts.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal parts.
  4. Shape each part into a 12-inch log.
  5. Place the logs on ungreased cookie sheets.
  6. Flatten each log with a fork to 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges are browned.
  8. Cool for a few minutes, then cut diagonally into slices with a sharp knife.
