Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. quick-acting dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water (105~ to 115~)
  • 3/4 c. soft or melted shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 to 8 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Soften yeast in warm water (105~ to 115~).
  2. Add shortening, sugar, eggs, 4 cups of flour, and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Stir, then beat until smooth, about 1 minute.
  4. Stir in remaining flour, using your hands if necessary to work in the last 2 cups.
  5. This will form a soft dough.
  6. Cover tightly and store in refrigerator overnight or until needed.
