Ingredients

  • 1 (18 1/4 oz.) pkg. yellow or white cake mix without pudding
  • 2 pkg. RapidRise yeast
  • 6 1/4 to 6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water (120 to 130 degrees F)
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Combine cake mix, yeast, 1 cup flour, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in water, eggs, and oil.
  2. Beat at medium speed of an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough.
  4. Turn dough out onto a well-floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  5. Cover dough and let rest for 10 minutes.
