  • shortening
  • packets of baking mix or similar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 teaspoon orange flavoring
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix all ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Divide the batter evenly into two cast-iron skillets.
  4. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
