Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 6 apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Chop the apples into small pieces.
  2. Place half of the chopped apples in the unbaked pie shell.
  3. Mix the cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, and 1/2 cup of sugar together.
  4. Sprinkle half of this spice-sugar mixture over the apples in the pie shell.
  5. Add the remaining apples to the pie shell.
  6. Sprinkle the rest of the spice-sugar mixture over the top.
  7. Bake the pie until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly, about 45 minutes.
