Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In a 9-inch square baking pan, melt butter in the oven for 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine all ingredients except milk.
  4. Stir in milk just until moistened.
  5. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 10 times or until smooth.
  6. Roll dough into a 12 x 4-inch rectangle.
  7. Cut into 12 (1-inch) strips.
  8. Dip each strip into the melted butter.
  9. Place the strips in the same pan.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
