Ingredients

  • 6 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 small cakes yeast

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and let it cool to lukewarm temperature.
  2. Mix together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of lukewarm milk to the dry mixture.
  5. Crumble the yeast into a medium-sized bowl or saucepan, add 2 teaspoons of sugar, and pour in the remaining lukewarm milk.
  6. Let the yeast mixture sit until it becomes foamy, about 10 to 15 minutes.
