Ingredients

  • 8 almost ripe pears
  • 2 qt. water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cloves
  • a dash of nutmeg
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream
  • chocolate sauce

Instructions

  1. Peel the pears, leaving on the stems.
  2. Simmer the pears in water with sugar, vanilla, cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon until they are semi-soft.
  3. Allow the pears to cool before serving.
  4. Serve the cooled pears over vanilla ice cream and drizzle with chocolate sauce.
