  • 18 oz chocolate chips
  • 3/8 bar paraffin wax

Tips & Substitutions

For smoother mixing, ensure your margarine is well-softened but not melted. If you prefer a richer chocolate flavor, consider using dark chocolate chips instead. To avoid melting issues, substitute paraffin wax with a small amount of vegetable shortening if desired. For added texture, you might mix in a few crushed graham crackers or oats. This dessert can be made ahead of time, making it perfect for gatherings or as a treat alongside Mamma'S Cobbler.

Serving Suggestions

These Pecan Joys are delightful on their own but can be served alongside a scoop of Butter Pecan Ice Cream(Electric Freezer) for an indulgent dessert experience. Pair them with coffee or hot cocoa for a cozy treat. For festive occasions, they can also be served at parties or as a sweet addition to dessert trays, complementing other sweets like cookies and brownies.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Pecan Joys in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. To maintain their texture, avoid stacking them directly on top of each other; instead, layer them with parchment paper. If you want to enjoy them warm, briefly microwave them for 10-15 seconds, but be cautious not to overheat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use unsweetened coconut instead of sweetened?

While you can use unsweetened coconut, the overall taste will be less sweet and may require additional sugar to balance the flavors. If you choose unsweetened, consider adding a bit more confectioners sugar to achieve the desired sweetness.

How can I make these Pecan Joys gluten-free?

This recipe is naturally gluten-free as it contains no wheat products. Just ensure that any chocolate chips or other ingredients used are labeled gluten-free. This makes it a wonderful option for those following a gluten-free diet.

Can I freeze Pecan Joys for later use?

Yes, you can freeze Pecan Joys! Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet until frozen, then transfer them to an airtight container or freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving for the best texture.
