Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 red peppers
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons mustard seed
  • 2 cups vinegar

Instructions

  1. Chop the cabbage, onions, red peppers, and green peppers in a meat grinder using a medium blade.
  2. Sprinkle the chopped vegetables with salt and allow to stand overnight.
  3. Drain the salted vegetables.
  4. Add the sugar, celery seed, mustard seed, vinegar, and enough water to cover the vegetables.
  5. Mix everything thoroughly and then jar the relish.
