Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and coarsely ground black pepper in a bowl.
  2. Brown the butter in a saucepan until golden and fragrant.
  3. Add the browned butter to the flour mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them 1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a sugar-dipped glass.
  6. Press a black peppercorn into the center of each cookie.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
