Petros is a flavorful layered salad featuring crunchy Fritos, creamy cheese, hearty chili, fresh vegetables, and sour cream, perfect for casual gatherings and family meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Fritos
  • 12 oz. block medium Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 small tomatoes, diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 head lettuce, cut into salad size pieces
  • 2 cans Hormel chili with beans, heated
  • 1 small container sour cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients as noted: shred the cheese, dice the tomatoes and onion, cut lettuce into salad-sized pieces, and heat the chili.
  2. In each serving bowl, layer the ingredients starting with two handfuls of Fritos at the bottom.
  3. Add one handful of shredded cheese on top of the Fritos.
  4. Pour four tablespoons of heated Hormel chili over the cheese.
  5. Add one handful of lettuce on top of the chili.
  6. Sprinkle 1 1/2 tablespoons of diced tomatoes over the lettuce.
  7. Add 1 tablespoon of diced onions.
  8. Top with 2 teaspoons of sour cream.
  9. Serve as a layered salad or mix everything together and enjoy.
