Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups graham flour
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 cups buttermilk or sour milk

Instructions

  1. Measure the graham flour into a cup, then turn into a large bowl.
  2. Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, and brown sugar into the bowl over the graham flour.
  3. Mix together the molasses and buttermilk or sour milk, then add to the flour mixture.
  4. Mix well and turn the batter into a well-greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour.
  6. Turn out the bread and let it cool.
