Ingredients

  • 1 (No. 2 1/2) can pineapple chunks
  • 3/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 6 to 8 whole cloves
  • 1 (4-inch) cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Drain syrup from the pineapple chunks.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 3/4 cup of the syrup with vinegar, sugar, salt, cloves, and cinnamon stick.
  3. Heat the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add the pineapple chunks to the syrup mixture.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Refrigerate for 2 days to allow flavors to meld.
  7. Serve ice cold with toothpicks.
