Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 2 (15 1/2 oz.) cans crushed pineapple in its own juice, drained
  • pecan halves
  • maraschino cherries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Melt margarine in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan in the oven.
  3. Sprinkle brown sugar over the melted margarine until even.
  4. Spread crushed pineapple on top of the margarine-brown sugar mixture.
  5. Decorate with pecans and cherries, pressing them to the bottom of the pan.
  6. Prepare cake mix as directed but use pineapple juice instead of water.
  7. Pour batter into the pan over the margarine, sugar, and pineapple.
  8. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes.
  9. Invert cake immediately on a heatproof serving plate or cake pan.
