Ingredients

  • 1 (2 layer size) package white cake mix
  • 1 (3 oz.) package strawberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 lb. package frozen strawberries, halved and thawed
  • 1 (3 1/2 oz.) package strawberry whipped dessert mix
  • 1 (2 or 2 1/8 oz.) package dessert topping mix

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake according to package directions and bake in two 9-inch layer pans.
  2. Dissolve strawberry flavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, then stir in 1/2 cup cold water. Set aside for 20 minutes.
  3. Cool the baked cake layers for 5 minutes in the pans, then remove and place on racks over waxed paper.
  4. Using a long-tined fork, punch holes in the cake, making even rows across the surface.
  5. Spoon the prepared gelatin over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes.
  6. Chill the cake for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
