Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup dry soybeans
  • 1 1/4 cup water (for soaking)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 cups water (for grinding soybeans)
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked oatmeal

Instructions

  1. Wash soybeans and soak in 3 cups water overnight.
  2. Save 1 1/4 cups of this soaking water and drain the rest.
  3. Grind soybeans with the saved water until smooth.
  4. Mix ground soybeans with uncooked oatmeal; let stand for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in onion powder (or chopped onion), soy sauce, oil, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of the mixture into an oiled skillet.
  7. Cover and cook on moderate heat until browned on both sides.
  8. Serve with sauce, tomato, mushroom, or your preferred accompaniment.
