Ingredients

  • 1 cup pinon nuts, shelled
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, water, butter, and vinegar in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and heat until the temperature is between 234° and 240° on a candy thermometer.
  3. Cool the mixture slightly and beat in the pinon nuts.
  4. Drop spoonfuls onto a buttered pan or oiled paper.
  5. Allow the candy to set before serving.
