Ingredients

  • 1/2 bushel tomatoes
  • 2 or 3 garlic buds
  • 1 pt vegetable oil
  • 3 lb onions
  • 4 hot peppers
  • 8 (12 oz) cans tomato paste
  • 1 Tbsp sweet basil
  • 1 Tbsp oregano
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c salt

Instructions

  1. Cook tomatoes and garlic together and put through a sieve.
  2. Chop the sieved mixture and cook in vegetable oil with onions and peppers, stirring well.
  3. Add this mixture to the tomato juice.
  4. Add remaining ingredients: tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, and salt.
  5. Simmer all ingredients together until it comes to a boil.
  6. Fill jars with hot sauce and seal.
